The three-judge bench of the Colombo High Court presiding over the trial-at-bar in the White Flag Case has delivered its judgment. The trial-at-bar has found the accused, former army commander Sarath Fonseka, guilty of one charge and sentenced him to three years imprisonment. The case was heard for over a year by a three-judge bench of the Colombo High Court consisting of Deepali Wijeysundera, W.M.T.B. Warawewa and A.Z. Razeen. Hearings of the trial-at-bar of the White Flag Case concluded on October 18. Fonseka was indicted by the Colombo High Court on the basis of a statement he had allegedly made to The Sunday Leader newspaper where he had allegedly claimed that LTTE members who had surrendered with white flags, were gunned down.
