We could not have achieved what we did without the help of all humanitarian workers and especially the UN, Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa said today at a function held at the UN compound to mark the World Humanitarian Day.
Basil made this comment with special regard to the resettlement of IDPs and the post tsunami period. He also thanked the UN country office and director on behalf of the government and people of Sri Lanka.
We had some differences of opinion, however all NGOs and UN were in agreement with us on where we should go. We only differed on how we should get there, Basil added. He claimed that out success was that everyone’s target was the same.
